Our Guide to the Role of a Company Shareholder

Guide to the role and responsibilities of a limited company shareholder.

A company shareholder is the owner or part-owner of a company.

A shareholder is not the same as a Director although the same person can be both.

If you are the owner of a small business, it is likely that you will be both a shareholder and a director.

Shareholders are not employees, just because they are shareholders, although a shareholder can be an employee.

If a Limited Company makes a profit, the shareholders may receive a Dividend, but this will be a decision of the Directors.
